Greetings and welcome to my website.  I’m Catherine Torrento and I am the Elementary Student Assistance Provider (ESAP) at Riley Upper Elementary.  This is my 6th year at Riley, and I am so excited to be a part of your Wildcat’s day!  My background is in school counseling.  I tell our students that I have the 3rd best job in the world.  Ask them what the first and the second best jobs are ;)  

In terms of how I can help you and your student, I wear a lot of different hats.  

I offer several different small groups throughout the year, including social/friendship skill-building, grief and loss, impulse control, and more based on the needs of the students. I help students with conflict mediation and problem solving (one of my favorite parts of my job is when I get to see our students brainstorming ways to solve problems with peers, and the pride they take in the end result when they have worked together). I am fortunate enough to make the announcements in the morning with our “Project Wisdom” curriculum, an anti-bullying and positive character building program, to start our day off on a positive note. I am also in charge of our 504's and Health Care Plans for any friends who have severe allergies and other medical conditions. I work with students one-on-one for emotional and behavior management, but most of all, I am a resource to help our students be the kind of 5th and 6th graders that they want and deserve to be. 

I truly enjoy what I do and I am happy to help in any way that I can.
