Degrees and Certifications:

The Colaizzi Classroom

Welcome back to school. My name is Kimberly Colaizzi and I am so happy to be your child’s teacher this year. I have taught special education in Livonia for the past 25 years.  This is my first year at Frost Middle School and I am excited to join the Frost family!  I have 2 wonderful paraprofessionals, Mrs. Michelle Salah and Mrs. Laura Davison.

I am a big believer in working together as a team, in the best interest of your child. Since you know your child best, I look forward to your input at any time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by note, phone/voicemail or by email. A weekly communication sheet will go home each night in your child’s folder. Please review and add any comments or questions.  Please leave the sheet in the folder throughout the week. I will collect them on Monday’s and add a new sheet.

At Frost, your child will follow a modified general education curriculum called the Common Core Essential Elements. If at any time you have questions about the curriculum, please feel free to ask. During the first few weeks of school, we will be spending a great deal of time on classroom rules and routines,  beginning of the year assessments, and getting to know each other. At Frost the motto is “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Empowered”. All students that show they are being respectful, responsible, and empowered by doing their best learning will receive “Falcon Dollars” throughout the day. Earning “Falcon Dollars” is a school-wide initiative, all students at Frost have the opportunity to earn dollars from all staff members in the building. At the end of the week, students will count up their dollars and have the opportunity to purchase an item or special opportunity from the Frost School PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) store. If you have any new items that you would like to donate to the class store, that would be wonderful.

I am so excited to continue to team teach with Ms. Casey Loiselle.  We are also very excited to welcome Ms. Kayla Perchall to join our team.  Students in both classes will be switching between our three rooms throughout the day for various subjects. I will be teaching science and social studies, Ms. Loiselle will be teaching reading and writing, and Ms. Perchall will be teaching math.

This year we will have 2 elective classes.  During the first semester, our class will be going to computer tech for our third hour elective.  We will be going to physical education during the second semester.

At the end of each day, students will be offered a quick afternoon snack. If you would like to send in a snack each day with your child, that would be great, especially if your child follows a specific diet (sugar free, gluten free, etc.)  If you would like to donate snacks items to the classroom, we would certainly appreciate it (crackers, pretzels, animal crackers, etc.)  Please let me know right away if your child has any food allergies or restrictions.  At this time both classrooms are NUT FREE Zones.

Items to be considered for back to school: (please label all items)

-Lunchbox (if your child brings a lunch)

-Water Bottle (with spill proof lid)

-Bathroom items (if your child needs them)

-Extra pair of clothes to keep at school in a bag

-Extra masks (if washable, please add a labeled baggie for used masks to be sent home)

If your child has any medical concerns and requires a health care plan or health alert plan, please let me know immediately.  If your child takes medication at school, a medication authorization must be filled out. Please do not send medication on the bus or in a backpack, unless it has been approved and is part of a signed plan.

I look forward to working together toward an amazing school year!
