This will be my 23nd year at Emerson Middle School, my 33rd in education. 

I began teaching in a resource room in Hamilton Michigan before attending Grand Valley State University to obtain my language arts certification. After 11 years at Hamilton, I taught composition as a lecturer at Eastern Michigan University, while earning my master's degree in Written Composition.

In 2001, I began teaching at Emerson Middle school. While here, I have taught reading, both 7th and 8th grade language arts, journalism, speech and drama, and a variety of other classes. For the last ten years or so, I have been teaching ELA 7 and Language Arts Enrichment. 7th grade is my favorite grade to teach. 

In my free time, I enjoy walking my two German Shepherds and fostering dogs for rescues. I also like to ride my horses and camp in Manistee whenever I can. When the weather keeps me inside, I read often.
