Mr. Bjorklund

I started my career in Livonia Public Schools at Franklin High School where I taught math from January 2000 until June 2021.  I received my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Western Michigan University in 1999 and my Master's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2003.  During my teaching career at Franklin I was very involved in the school.  I served as Head Girls Varsity Track & Field coach from 2000-2016, Head Girls Varsity Cross Country coach from 2002-2018, and School Improvement co-chair from 2003-2007.  At the district level, I have served on numerous curriculum development committees for mathematics.  I was also the mathematics department chairperson at Franklin from 2019-2021, and have experience teaching numerous math courses, including Algebra 1, Algebra 1B, Algebra 2, Algebra 2B, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, and IB Mathematical Studies SL.  I taught AP Calculus AB at Franklin from 2001-2021 and am very proud of the success we had on the AP Exam.

In the fall of 2021 I had the exciting opportunity to come over to Churchill High School to be the MSC Coordinator and teach MSC Accelerated Analysis, MSC AP Calculus BC, and MSC Advanced Topics!

I am married with two children.  My wife Julie is a math teacher at Stevenson, and my two sons Tyler (13) and Ryan (11) attend Frost Middle School and Riley Upper Elementary respectively.  In my spare time I enjoy running, swimming, reading, and spending time with my family.  My sons keep me busy with their sports and other activities.
