Mrs. Laurie Stanford
Welcome to First Grade! I am looking forward to an exciting year of teaching and a great year of learning as I get to work with you and your child! Communication is a top priority to me. The best way to contact me is through remind text, email or to send in a note with your child and I will get back with you as soon as possible.
As we begin this time together, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in Livonia and attended Livonia Public Schools. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I began teaching first grade in Livonia in 1994 and have taught both first and second grade! I am living the dream I had as a young girl—to be an elementary school teacher! I live in Hamburg Township (south of Brighton), on the Huron River, with my husband Bill, and our two daughters, Bree (18) and Brooke (16), who keep me busy with their school (Bree 1st year in college with an Art Major and Brooke in soccer). I have a 90 pound black lab/mix dog named Shadow and love dogs (especially Clifford, the Big Red Dog)! I enjoy the outdoors, camping, reading, and photography…but most of all, watching my children grow!
Over the school year, I will get to know your families, as you will get to know mine. I talk about them a great deal and can relate to some of your parenting issues first-hand. Your children will come home talking about funny things we say and do at school…enjoy the stories and watching them grow up—it seems that they grow in a blink of an eye!
I am very happy to be able to have your child in my classroom this year! Through cooperation and working together, we can make this a successful and productive year for your child!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Laurie Stanford
