• Congratulations to  the following Animation/Web Design and Game Design students who are finalists in the 2021 National Games For Change Student Challenge Competition.  Over 1,000 submissions from students across the country  were received and 6 Livonia Career Center Students were selected as finalists.  


    These students will be awarded prizes at the Games For Change Awards Ceremony and one Grand Prize Winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship provided by Take Two Interactive.  Congratulations to all the winners!

    Livonia Career Technical Center Students Sweep Game Design Awards June 2020


    Nineteen students from the Livonia Career Technical Center were  finalists in the 2020 Games For Change Detroit Student Challenge.   The Games for Change Student Challenge is a national game design program that combines students’ passion for games with digital learning and civic engagement.  

    The G4C Student Challenge is a Nationwide competition that invites middle and high school students in Detroit and throughout the United States to create games about issues impacting their communities.  This year, winning games were celebrated at a Virtual Awards ceremony.

    G4C deployed professionals from the games, technology, innovation, and digital media industries to work directly with students and provided hands on support, showing, telling and sharing their experience paths to their area of expertise.

    The 2020 Student Challenge Themes in Detroit were: A Clean and Happy Earth, Get the Party Started, Human Animal Bond and Designing Games For All.

    Corporate Sponsors included Ubisoft, Take2Interactive, Two bit Circus, Truth and General Motors.

    Congratulations to the Grand Prize Winner:  Eric Minowski for his game Pierre’s Party Panic.  Eric  received a 1,000 Scholarship.

    First Place Winners were:

    Nolan Hill for his game entitled Companion Rescue and George Belea and Justin C for their game entitled Help Save the Environment.  These students won $150 Gift Card to Best Buy and a game from Ubisoft.

    Other Livonia Career Technical Center finalists include: Darien Reames and E.J. Beyers “Mission Smoke”, Zeinab Sleiman and Sarah Reed, “Cigar Dash”, Lucas Burr, “Know the cost”, Hamed Emari, Andrew Thornton and Derek Anderson “Slime Time”, Alexander Brandt, “The Box-An Inclusive Experience”, Brian Donaldson and Ali Chedid, “A More Perfect Union”, Kelly Wong “Spring Day Cafe”, Tyler Franklin and Ryan Tarlo, “CATastrophe”,  and Patrick Jary, “Dogs of War.”  All finalists were awarded a $50 Best Buy Gift Certificate.
