Ms. Sheri Fortier

This is my 20th year of teaching for Livonia Public Schools.  I feel fortunate to be in not only such a well acclaimed district, but school as well.  Here at Hoover, we have such a great community and I look forward to another great year!

To give you a little background about my educational and teaching background, I began my college career at Schoolcraft Community College. There I had the honor of being Recording-Secretary of Phi Theta Kappa Honor's Society. I received a Presidential Scholarship to attend Wayne State University, where I continued my education. In December of 1999, I graduated as a member of the Golden Key National Honor's Society with my Bachelors of Science in Education. I then continued my education and earned my Master's Degree in the Art of Teaching in February 2004.  I attend and professional development provided by the district and outside of the district on a yearly basis.

I was extremely fortunate to be hired by Livonia Public Schools in 2000. I began my teaching career at Taylor Elementary and was there for six years. During that time I taught second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. I enjoyed each of them.  After Taylor Elementary, I moved to Hoover Elementary. This will be my 14th year here and am looking forward to it. I feel blessed to be working with such a great third grade team!

I am one of the Literacy Leaders here at Hoover and I am on the Leadership Team and Technology Team as well.  Many times you will see me outside in the morning greeting students as they come off the buses. I enjoy all of the committees and extra activities I do to help students feel safe and be the best they can be.

On a more personal note, this summer I spent a lot of time reading and being outdoors. I enjoyed hiking, white water rafting, golfing, reading, walking the dogs, and just hanging out by a campfire with family and friends. I also stay busy with 4 nephews and one amazing niece.  :)
